Rental Terms

Should any discrepancies arise between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement prevails.
Eligibility Criteria
Rental Requirements for Dorking
- To hire a vehicle in Dorking, you must be a minimum of 21 years old, although age limits may differ based on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. A valid, full driving licence appropriate for the vehicle category is required, held for at least the duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, you must present valid identification, proof of your current address, and provide payment details along with a security deposit. Any further requirements will be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- You can make bookings directly via our website, over the phone, or by visiting our Dorking office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your reservation. The remaining balance and a security deposit are usually payable at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT when applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties. The vehicle must be returned in the same condition as it was received, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection, as refueling charges will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may result in additional fees, so please inform us promptly if you anticipate any delays. You will be held responsible for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or charges incurred during the rental, in addition to an administration fee.
5. Coverage and Responsibility
- Every car rental includes basic third-party insurance, with specific coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Optional insurance plans may be available to limit your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for damages or losses up to the excess amount unless additional coverage is obtained. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance status.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Please be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of the Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities, including racing, rallying, or off-roading. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes and within established weight and passenger limits. Operating outside the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Limitation of Responsibility
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Dorking will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business related to your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount you paid for your rental in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
